Glossary of terms

Below, you will find a list of some of the terms or abbreviations used on our website. If you find one that is missing, please let us know and we'll add it!

ACU - Army Combat Uniform - A digital camouflage pattern usually used by US Forces. Grey in appearance with tonal pattern

BDU - Battle Dress Uniform - The name given to US uniforms used in 'Battle' scenarios as apposed to the 'Garrison' uniforms used in parades & functions.

DPM - Disruptive Pattern Material - A camouflage pattern used by forces around the world but most commonly the British forces. Green in colour with beige and brown pattern.

MOLLE - MOdular Lightweight Load-carrying Equipment - Pronounced MOLLY, this is the name given to any webbing, bergens, or load carying equipment that uses the PALS attachment system.

PALS - Pouch Attachment Ladder System - The name given to a way of attching equipment to bergens or webbing (or anything). A strip of high strength nylon is stitched lengthways onto the bearing platform and the equipment is then interweaved onto this ladder with its own nylon strip.

PLCE - Personal Load Carrying Equipment
